Just One Place

When you read David Allen’s book “Getting Things Done” you realize that organization is really important. For example when I cook it matters that I cook the potatoes one day in advance. It matters that I make the soup for the whole weak. All this planning ahead gives me a head start for being able to make more elaborate and cheaper recipes.

So what is new today?

  • I woke up at around 5 am and starting preparing breakfast way ahead of time.

  • I had made the potatoes a day earlier and this means I had time after preparing breakfast to mince the potatoes and directly afterwards make MINCED MEAT.

  • I am planning to make a shepherd’s pie this morning or afternoon.

  • Other things I am noticing: I am noticing that in my kitchen if I know where to put each item things get a lot easier.

  • There needs to be one place for each item and the way to determine where this place is is by asking myself: “Where would I look for this if I didn’t know where it was?

  • I need to work on one thing for Julian (and maybe David). I need to write things in his calendar and get him to check his calendar when he is in school.

What are the changes I am making to my life?
