A Day in the Gym on Saturday

Here are some random memories of this day. Things that were new and things that I want to remember.

Mainly I am learning about how to record my thoughts in one place. This has to do with consistency. First you write all of your thoughts down but in a second moment you can categorize what you wrote and put your thoughts in a better order.

For example if I make a shopping list that is unstructured it is less useful than if I rewrite the list and create the list so all the items are in order of where they can be found in the supermarket.

Generally it is easier to cook when I don’t get too close to the time of day when my family is hungry. I prefer to have several hours before my family wants to eat to think about what to make and how to prepare the dishes.

Today I made things that were good and things that were not good.

The main dish I made was a sugo bolognese. I could not find this recipe in the Thermomix app, so I looked for an Italian recipe on Youtube.

This is approximately how the recipe I made worked out for me:

a) I cut two onions and one garlic and roasted the two ingredients in some oil. I cut selery sticks and some carrots and added those two ingredients before adding the meat. I added half a kilo of meat and some wine and then roasted the meat. While the meat was goijng I foud a tomato sauce in the fridge and added that and cut some tomatoes. I was supposed to cook the sugo for 45 minutes but I ended up having less time so I ghuess it was on the stove for about 20-30 mins. More would have been better. I also added some tomato concentrate and slat and pepper. I think i should have added a bit more salt.

b) This time I did not make homemade gnocchi even thought they are really good. the store bought ones are really bad compared to the ones I make. The ones I make are with potatoes that I press with the Erdäpfelpresse and I add about 90g of griffiges Mehl and 90g of Weizengrieß. I also add one egg and salt and pepper. This is such a cool recipe.

c) Another recipe I made many times is the Oatmeal. I use about 40g of hazelnuts that I grind and then heat in a pan. I use about 80g of oatmeal and 500g of milk and or water. I cook this for about 12 mins at 98 degrees in the Thermomix. I add cinammon. sugar and a pinch of salt. Very good for breakfast especially with the nuts on top.

d) Another great recipe is the Tsatsiki recipe.

e) Yesterday I made sweet potatoes. I peeled them and cut them into slices of about 0.5 cm. I put them on a baking tray and put them in the oven at about 250 degrees. Then I roasted them a bit, took them out,m put some oild and salt and paprika on them and turned them about and reduced the temperature to 200 degrees and left them to roast. They were really good.

f) Today I had some potatoes left from yesterday’s dinner and I took the cooked potatoes and cut them in half. I used a spoon to take some of the potato and dig a small hole. I used the Erdäpfelpresse to press the extracted potato. I made a sort of paste with cottage cheese and cheese and fried bacon dices and the pressed potato. I also added some ground cheese. I added the pate’ back into the potatoes and heated them at 175 degrees but after a while we turned the heat up and I also used the grill function for a few minutes. We ate these potatoes with hummus.
